IT'S OVER!!!

IT'S OVER! My time at Joseph Bonnheim Elementary School has come to an end. I had a long exhausting first year teaching. I really did enjoy my time and am going to miss my school next year. I was one of the 30,000 teachers in California that received a pink slip this year. As the state budget looks awful this year, this translates to the district's budget also looking horrible. They have un-reduced class sizes bring them to 25 to 1. They are looking at bringing k-3 up to 30 to 1. Besides this being insane, it also makes my chances of getting my pink slip resended looks slim. So, what's next is usually the next question. I HAVE NO IDEA! I have been so busy that I have not had time to think what I am doing to do next. I was so busy with school, swim team, regional YSA meetings, and State-wide YSA conference meetings that I have not figured out what my next step is. More school, move to a new state, move to a different part of CA, stay and substitute, or really anything! It is like a kid in a candy store told to pick any one candy bar. Really, they are all good options but which one suites me right now. Oh decisions!

Up now for the summer:
Swim Team (only two dual meets left and then Champs!)
Fourth of July
Camping at Santa Cruz and Donner Lake
Girls Camp (I'm over the 4th years with certification....which means a real backpacking hike with everything on my back. Yep, I am going to tackle that this year even if I hate hiking. But, we end our overnight backpacking with a white water rafting trip. Sounds good).
State Wide YSA Conference
Disneyland
Decide my life

Well, it all sounds good to me. I am enoying a few hours off each day. I have not had so much down time for quite a while. Life is good.

As some one who has been laid off 5 times... My advice have fun.

I have some of my best memories while being unemployed.

I took a year off and lived in LA and did really nothing but hang out.

Another time I spent playing sports for 4 months straight.

You could come crash the bohman camping trip to Koosherum next week. 23th to 29th. We have atvs and extra tent space. Just don't say I invited you.

I can't believe you got laid off! The people in charge obviously haven't been reading your blog, otherwise they would realize what an awesome teacher you are!!!

Come live with us in Las Vegas. I am not sure if they are hiring but we need good teachers!
