My time in Zion

Harlow and I went to Utah and this is the only picture of people or events from the weekend. We had a great time. AmyAnn, Harlow, and our friend Austin, and I took a crazy long road trip to Utah. We had amazing weather on the way there, on the way home is another story. We hit an awful snow storm on our way down the pass. HORRIBLE WEATHER! But, we survived!

On another note, I was able to do a ton of stuff.
  • Went to Temple Square and toured the Relief Society Building
  • Went to the Distribution Center
  • Went to see Grandma Bair
  • Hung out with Melissa and Kari and Meg
  • Went to Cafe Rio and saw "How to Train a Dragon"
  • Watched Conference with Melissa
  • Went to the Conference Center and saw Sat. PM and Sun. AM session
  • Went to the Church History Library
  • Went to Desert Book and Seagulls
  • Had Leatherby's with Camden, Etta, Kasondra/Shawn and Kids, and Parents
  • Ate Easter Dinner with Grandma Rupp
  • Snakk Norsk (spoke Norwegian) with some members from Norway
So after a great trip, these are all the pictures I took. They are of Church Historical documents at the new Church History Library. They had some original documents rarely seen by the membership of the church. It was actually fascinating.

This is actually a page in one of the many binders in a room in the Relief Society Building. Women were asked in 1945 to donate $5 to build the building. This is my Grandma Bair's name in one of the binders. They have a room, the $5 room, set aside in honor of the women who donated money. They are looking for women to write their memories on how they sacrificed to give the money to the Relief Society. Grandma remembered nothing....she said they gave money all the time.

The picture on the left is the amazing journal from Wilford Woodruff. Literally it had amazing designs and the smallest cursive ever. It was incredible.

This is a rare journal of Joseph Smith. He did not write much and had others scribe for him, but it was impressive to see his handwriting.

My new Mormon Hero is Eliza Roxcy Snow. Really, I have read so much about her and I am so impressed by her. This is one of her journals. It was such a fun thing to see after learning so much about her.
I did not get a picture of one of the neatest books. There was a record of the saints in Ghana who were baptized in December of 1978. The record was handwritten and a reminder of the saints who waited so long to be baptized. It was impressive.

So, I went to Utah and did a ton of things and really only took pictures of old books. It was so fast but good times.

My parents went to conference and, like you, barely survived the drive home. My Mom went to sleep and when she woke up my Dad said he didn't know how they had made it safely over the mountain. He said he could only see about 3 feet in front of the truck!!!
