Well, my life is coming back to normal. For the last few weeks they have asked the Young Single Adults to make phone calls. I spent many nights calling along with the weekends. It has been a journey. I have learned what I believe for myself. It took a lot of studying and prayer. I am grateful for the time to learn and understand. I think it has made my generation a more dedicated, educated, and ready to work for what is right. I understand what truth is and how it does not change.
I had heard from a girl in my ward about the official after party for Prop. 8. I asked some friends if they wanted to go, and a few of us joined the party. It was awesome. It was held downtown at the Hyatt where every major press organization was in attendance. It was overwhelming seeing so many photographers, news anchors, and radio contributors. They mingled with the people and interviewed some of them. As we waited for the polls to submit their information, we ate some good, random food and tried to get on TV. Well, I am proud to say that I was on all major Sacramento channels (channel 3, 10, 13, and 40). I also was interviewed for NPR. I luckily was around some very intelligent friends and my friend Ryan was quoted on air instead of me. I heard it this morning and he did such an amazing job. It was really a unique opportunity during the whole night. It was exciting to say that all our efforts paid off. Prop 8 has passed.
One more really unique opportunity, was to talk to the head of one of the Catholic Coalitions, Bill May. He actually wrote a few articles for the San Fransisco Chronicle. We chatted with him and when he found out we were Mormons he started to tell us how grateful he was for the Mormons. He talked about how we were so organized and how he truly enjoyed working with the Church. It was really a rare opportunity. I am grateful for the opportunity that churches have had to work together. What a day.
