Well, we went on a great trip to Angel Island off of San Fransisco. This island was used for many different reasons over the years: Missile Station, "Ellis Island of the West Coast", a military base. It is a great island with a 5 mile bike loop around the island. It was a nice day to have a picnic, take a bike ride, and learn some of the interesting history. We have gone there a few times as a family when we were younger. It was fun to go back and see the things we remembered. I forgot to take pictures of the really old buildings. Here are some of the highlights.
Briley with her Butterfly sticker she just had to have from the Park Ranger. We stopped off at the immigration station. This was the place they brought people before they would let them into America. Mostly Chinese and Japanese came through this Island. This is the original building they stayed in. There are Chinese poems still written on the walls. They were also painted with lead paint. Try keeping a 2 year old away from touching anything. Good Luck! Very fascinating.
Picture time with my swim team! It is looking huge again this year. I can't wait for school to be done to get to focus on one area in my life.
So here are my students. We went on a field trip to the Sacramento County Fair. Let's just say this was quite an adventure. They look all sweet and innocent, but really it was quite the place to be. Every school in Sacramento sent classes to the fair. It was CRAZY! My students mostly live in the Urban section of Sacramento. I did not realize that I would have to prep them about all animals needing to poop. They literally starting freaking out seeing the sheep and goats pooping. The Cows and their poop was just so much for my students that the man told us maybe we should go so we would not scare the cows with their screaming. Oh man! It was enough to leave me so exhasted and wondering if field trips are worth it. Of course, the things I thought they were bored with (a show about owls) the next day that was all they could talk about. Oh kids!
Here is the class on Open House night. I think it turned out well. Here are their portfolio bags and work.
I had them paint a picture of themselves and put them on their chairs to look like they were sitting there. I actually cleaned the classroom pretty well (considering I don't have cupboards) and I had almost all my families come. Good times!
May has been busy for sure! I have been running around like a crazy women. I work all day teaching my class, then run to coach swim team (we are up to 165 swimmers), and then usually I have a church meeting/activity at night. I realized that I really hate the month of May! I have been working on the Regional Activities and attending the temple as much as I can. I also was asked to be a part of the committee to plan the State Wide YSA Conference for the Northern CA area. So stress is here, but only 13 days left of teaching days! Life really is good, just crazy.

You ARE busy busy, but look at all the cool stuff you get to be involved with. You are so lucky.
Good luck with everything. You sound like a busy lady. I like your student's pictures of themeselves sitting in their chairs. Very cute!
Wow... Your class looked AWESOME! I know field trips. The first year I went on one this student opened a door that set off the fire alarm. He really was a good kid just not paying attention. THe door was just an ordinary door. You are a busy bee. THe pics of ellis island looked super fun. When things slow down I want to plan a girls night, or luncheon. Until it slows down take care:)
You will survive!!! I am excited to see you on Saturday ...it has been so long!
Busy, Busy, Busy! I know you wouldn't have it any other way :) Summer is so close!!!! That bike ride looked like a lot of fun, I didn't know you could do that out there.
